Soldiers at War Custom Scenarios

all custom missions can be unzipped into your \Soldiers at War\Custom_g\
folder

Please note that none of these are based on actual events-- I am
trying to focus more on fun "what if?", rather than historical accuracy.
If I make scenarios, I will try to make versions based on both
sides of the struggle (but the computer player will almost always
have the advantage, to make it slightly challenging for you).

Kasserine Revisited

Kasserine Revisited (Kasserine2)
Here is my first scenario, a modified version of Kasserine Pass.
The Germans have retaken Kasserine in a surprise attack, and the
German high command is already there to make more quick plans.
Worse yet, more reinforcements are on the way. The Germans are
more prepared this time. You are sent there immediately without
arrangements for radio support! Your only support comes from
stranded American soldiers, if they are still alive, that is.
Some of them might be hiding-- find and liberate them.

Objectives:
  1. Take out the spotters with machine guns on the hill.
  2. Eliminate the officers before they plan to retake anything else.
  3. (optional) Find stranded American soldiers if you want help.
Kasserine Revisited a (Kasserine2a)
Minor modifications: the officers remain stationary, added one
information token.

Kasserine Revisited, German perspective (Kasserine2German)
Similar, but quite different, you play the Germans.
You are also outnumbered, the odds against you. You begin
victorious with a few men on the hilltop. Your Major comes
running up the hill suddenly, out of breath, and warns
you that many Americans are here and that your supplies are low.
Your elite SS Infantry reinforcements are nowhere to be seen!
More supplies are in the weapons shed. Your mission is to secure
Kasserine and wipe out the entire American counter-attack.
Whether you play defensively or take a chance and go on
the offensive is your call.

Africanus

Africanus Germanicus
You are literally nowhere in the middle of the Italian North African
desert. Americans have shelled your tank to pieces. You are
disoriented and retreat. Your spotter notes about 16 American
ground troops headed in your direction. You need to remount
your attack and wipe them out (modified from the "Bridge" template).

Africanus Americanus
This is exactly the same scenario, but played from the American side.
You outnumber the Germans and Italians, but they have a couple of
heavy machine guns and more sergeants. Wipe out the enemy!

Duels (Fist Fights, too!)

Duels
This has to be the dumbest thing ever made! But it's fun, too!
I got bored and decided to make five-on-five grudge matches--
equal ranks, equal weapons (or lack thereof), and equal terrain.
This contains two variations-- fist fights and OSS pistol duels,
one for each side (Americans vs. Germans, Germans vs. Americans).
Enjoy!

German translations and adaptations:

Knee Deep in Doodoo

Knee Deep in Doodoo
Five Italian Captains are on a tour of the monastery,
discussing plans to transport more weapons and equipment as
the Americans begin to enter slowly, but steadily. There is
no way that five men can hold this place and they agree to leave as
safely as possible. Stealth and moving quickly will be the
keys to survival.

It's based on a German mission called "Voll in die Scheiße
gelaufen". I translated it, but then decided to rebuild the ruined
parts of Monte Cassino monastery to see how it could have looked
before it was fortified by the Italians and then shelled by
the Allies (it's not based on anything historical, however,
except for the inspiration)!

The difficulty in this mission varies widely-- after playing it
many times, I've managed to fail several times. Usually,
I can get two of the five men out safely. However, once, I
got all five out and managed to kill all of the reinforcements
(because they always arrive in the same places and I just
waited for them!). So, could be easy, could be hard...

Civil War (Bürgerkrieg)

Civil War
This contains two very different scenarios based on the
liberation of Marseille.

Civil War German:
The first is simply a translation
of the original German mission. It is exactly the same,
and can be played as a single or multiplayer game. It includes
many surreal elements (intentional scenery errors and a bizarre
sense of humor). You play the Germans who are trying to hold
the city from the French resistance.

Civil War French:
The second is my adaptation of this. You play as a small band
of French Marquis who are trying to take back the city. I
took the surreal mood of the original and ran with it-- it
might not be the best scenario, but I sure hope that it is
the silliest!

Custom Scenarios (made by others)

I hate the idea of having custom missions mostly or only at one
site (such as wargamer.com). Nothing against them, but sites can
close down too easily. I have put some in a directory, a file
list without descriptions. I'm not sure about the origin of many
of these scenarios-- if anyone would like me to remove a file,
PLEASE let me know!:

Please use and distribute my scenarios freely and
feel free to change them, too.
